Penumbra is an independent alternative/psych rock band based in Mandan, North Dakota, established in 2023. The group blends thoughtful songwriting with a visceral performance, crafting original songs that explore shadow and light — both sonically and lyrically.

The band's name itself means the lighter portion of a shadow during an eclipse, a fitting metaphor for music that balances darkness with moments of illumination. Active in writing, recording, and performing, Penumbra — Nicole Morton, Matt Foster, Dustin Geiger, and Nick Just — continues to develop its voice in the local rock scene, shaping songs that resonate with depth, intensity, and a raw, compelling energy.
